Shopify access guide

Give me access without sharing your password.

Web Glow Update uses Shopify's official collaborator system. It lets me work on the areas of your store needed for your project while you remain in complete control of the account.

Find your Shopify store URL

I need your permanent myshopify.com address rather than your normal customer-facing website address.

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Domains.
  4. Find your permanent myshopify.com store address.
  5. Copy the address ready to send to me.
Example
your-store-name.myshopify.com
02

Copy your 4-digit collaborator code

Shopify uses a unique collaborator request code so that only people you choose can request access to your store.

Settings Users Security
  1. Open Settings in Shopify.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Open the Security section.
  4. Find your 4-digit collaborator request code.
  5. Copy the code ready to send to me.
Can't see it? Depending on your Shopify account setup, you may first see Users & permissions before opening the Security section.
03

Send me those two details

That's all I need from you to send the official Shopify collaborator request.

  1. Your permanent myshopify.com URL.
  2. Your 4-digit collaborator request code.
Please don't send your Shopify password. I don't need it and you should never have to share it for Web Glow Update to work on your store.
04

I'll send the access request

Once I have your URL and code, I'll request collaborator access through Shopify.

Shopify will then send you a notification letting you know that Web Glow Update has requested access to your store.

You can review the permissions I've requested before approving anything.
05

Approve the request

When my request arrives, open your Shopify admin and approve it from the Users area.

Settings Users Requests
  1. Go to Settings → Users.
  2. Open the Requests status.
  3. Select my collaborator request.
  4. Review the permissions requested.
  5. Click Accept request.
Once approved, I can begin the agreed work without needing access to your personal Shopify login.
You're always in control

Collaborator access isn't permanent.

Shopify gives you control over who can access your store, what they can access and when that access is removed.

Review permissions

Before accepting my request, Shopify shows you the access being requested. You remain in control of what is approved.

Settings → Users → Requests

Remove access

Collaborator access can be removed from your Shopify Users settings when it is no longer required.
